It’s generally used as an exclamation shouted in celebration throughout a second of euphoria on a crowded dance ground. That explains why music trade veterans Carlie Webbert and Jake Abel have determined to call their upcoming dance music pageant “ZAPATEO.”
Welcome to the world of ZAPATEO, the place the pure world melds with the sounds and ceremony of music in movement. Karizma, Spen, Black Rave Tradition, Dreamcastmoe, & Stunning Swimmers carry a style of the DMV’s eclectic musical historical past to the inaugural electronic-forward pageant on the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With the extra heavy hitters, Byron the Aquarius and Priori, the weekend must be fairly conducive to motion. Performances by Tosser, Full Circle, Reality Cult, and out-of-state favourite Snooper, assist ZAPATEO have fun the endless energy of punk.
From Sept. 1-3, you may come be a part of them at camp. Set in opposition to the pure panorama of West Virginia’s Camp Tall Timbers — a lush two-hour drive from the center of D.C. — the campgrounds supply scenic setups for tent tenting, with restricted cabins and glamping choices obtainable.
The three-day pageant is a vessel for the essence of movement—and on the coronary heart of all of it: a component of playfulness.
